Admissions/Waiting List

It is our intention to make Playbox accessible to children and families from all sections of the Plymouth community. We aim to ensure that all sections of our community have access to Playbox through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures.

We ensure that the existence of Playbox is widely advertised in places accessible to all sections of the community.
That information about Playbox is accessible, in written and spoken form and, where appropriate, in more than one language. Where necessary, we will try to provide information in Braille, or through British Sign Language. We will provide translated written materials where language needs of families suggest this is required as well as access to an interpreter.
* We keep a place vacant, if this is financially viable, to accommodate an emergency admission.
* We describe Playbox and its practices in terms that make it clear that it welcomes fathers and mothers, other relations and other carers, including childminders.
* We describe Playbox and our practices in terms of how we treat each child and their family having regard to their gender, special educational needs, disabilities, social background, religion, and ethnicity or from English being a newly acquired additional language.
* We describe Playbox and its practices in terms of how it enables children and/or parents with disabilities to take part in the life of our community.
* We make our Equal Opportunities Policy widely known.
* We consult with families about our opening times to ensure we accommodate a broad range of family need.

Once you have contacted Playbox and placed your child’s name on our waiting list we arrange this in birth order. In addition, we take into account the following:
* the vicinity of the home to Playbox;
* children already attending our Pandas toddler groups;
* Siblings of children already attending.

Parents are invited to register their children with Playbox the term before they are expected to attend.
Once registered and requested sessions are booked into Playbox we expect these sessions to be taken up the following term.

If your child’s birthday falls after 31st August and you would like them to start with us the following January (when you receive the government funding), you will be invited to book your sessions for the January from October, after the Autumn half term. If your child will be funded from the following April, you will be invited to book your sessions late February, after the spring half term.

If you know you will want particular sessions, due to work commitments, these spaces can only be secured by your child’s attendance, and full payment of the up to date hourly fee. Which on September 2021 is £5.00 an hour.

Childcare spaces are not guaranteed and are filled on a first come first served basis.
